I'm not sure Friday was there in the book because Defoe thought Robinson Crusoe needed a servant, but because he needed someone to talk to, and a person like Friday was the most likely to be on a desert island at the time. Imagine Robinson Crusoe as a monologue. The court (Italian) also said that Friday was generally a bad day. The baby was born on a Sunday. Wtf is going on....you could pick almost any name in the whole world, and if you really wanted to, could associate it with something savage, shameful, or ridiculous. Venerdi.... I like it... Sounds lovely... But sometimes we can't understand what's right or wrong in this world... Well............ |
