Superannuation is a big thing here, traditionally a white collar worker's benefit. Since the govt realised that all the "baby boomers" were going to stay alive after their working days finished. (Which meant pensions for many who had not been encouraged to take out Superannuation.) Now everyone is encouraged to save for retirement through superannuation. If you want to retire early, under 67, you have to be rich or well prepared through saving.
