These are two of the comments from Techcrunch's coverage. Two sentences here really jumped out at me.

1) it does something that neither digg nor delicious can do.
2) the community is much better than anywhere else. (my comment: damn right it is )

with no real competitors!
I'll second that. While I am something of a late-comer to the Clipperverse, once I did get here I tried the others out, at least a bit, and it was very quickly obvious to me that this is where it is at in regards to functionality and enjoyment. Genuinely it is a singular experience here, not "Me too!"

You know, I really hate when these gossip mongers (what is their new term in blog lingo?) lowball a platform without even using it. Mashable has similar comments like Techcruch on Clipmarks potential acquisition. All they do is follow each other's league without paying any honest attention to the platform they highlight, and unfortunately people listen to these grossly overestimated blogsites (which are nothing more than a modern day version of gossip mongering).

Sorry, I have been just pissed at myself for following Techcrunch and Mashable for no good reasons. From here on, I'm only following my own assessment of any platform they highlight.

I believe this plays such a factor with how Clipmarks runs everyday. You guys do so well with getting the clippers involved and feel like part of the community. We don't just clip for ourselves , but for everyone else.

Congrats you guys!

as far as i'm concerned, you just summed up the entire mission of clipmarks. people filtering and distributing information they find on the web to everyone/anyone everywhere/anywhere. our upcoming product release in september really should take this to a whole new level.

Hey Eric, let me make one comment on this. Have you guys considered making a small,l reduced-functionality, bookmarklet-based clipping tool so that people can try out the site without installing the extension? I'm thinking of something like what LookLater.com has (or used to have ... I can't load their page) on their site. This would allow people to highlight maybe a single snippet of text or one photo or something like that and click the bookmarklet, thus launching the "Save Clip" window with the highlighted text or image as the clip content. It might go a long way towards convincing skeptics who don't want to install an extension just in order to try the site. It would also be handy for th...

Oh, and I also wanted to agree with arifsali re the tech blogs and their reviews. I get the sense that Michael Arrington, Pete Cashmore, etc. don't like services that (1) don't focus entirely on the tech world and (2) they can't immediately pigeonhole (del.icio.us clone, Digg clone, whatever).

The REAL Napster
What else is interesting is that Hearst Corp, a large media company as well, is acquiring Kaboodle, a social bookmarking /clipping type site. Monkey see/ monkey do?

The REAL Napster, as you may already know, these are just ways for newspaper businesses to stay afloat in the new world. Collaboration is indeed good but in a long run, only the wisely made decision of today would make one or two of them become a winner among all others. Who is going to survive the 'social-networking' bubble is what I think a million dollar mystery of today.

I came to clipmarks just 3 weekes ago. All because I have lived in New York city, for seven years, and I am glad Ive learned american english as my second language. Since I am from Brazil, and clipmarks doenst have a portuguese version yet. So, all I wanna say you guys, is that I am so excited to become a member of this comunity, and I love New york City.

This is one of the main reasons I've stuck around at CM this long...along with that the fact that the clipdaddies are always open to what us mere mortals have to say
