I've started to think of lawns as living systems on permanent, high input, life support. They require feeding, watering, cutting... non-stop during the growing season. And, for what!? We can't eat them; we put so much chemicals on them, we can play on them.

It doesn't make any sense.

Why don't we either grow food instead of lawns, or just let them revert to self-sustaining natural areas... meadows... with birds, animals, butterflies.
