Yeah, and during the 60s the world was said not to be able to support 4 billion without massive side effects. When we hit 4 billion in the 70s, 5 billion became the magic number. 5 billion in the 80s? Nope, 6 billion must be the limit. Notice a pattern? The only thing overpopulation alarmists have been succeeded in proving is their ability to be consistently wrong. Besides the rate of increase in global population has been steadily decreasing since the 60s, making their point even more gratuitous.

BTW, the British birthrate is already barely above 1.5 per woman, well below replacement rate. Go ahead, follow the suggestion and reduce that figure to 1/2 child per woman and explain to me how GB survives the century.

Last time I checked they are doing exactly that in alot of countries. Feel free to check where the biggest world population surges are taking place right now. Click on the world pop clock links at the right on that page. Look at the density of people per sqaure mile and then the projected growth rates.
