Now ... here's where the frustration comes in. Cavuto asks Senator Klobuchar whether or not she thinks that the 35% of earnings that the richest 1% earn now is enough; whether or not that's fair. He asked this question three times, and three times Klobuchar refused to answer it. She would launch into a discussion of rising tuition rates and health insurance premiums in Minnesota. Now excuse me ... but in what way do comments on rising tuitions and health insurance rates constitute a response to a question as to whether or not a 35% tax rate is high enough for evil high-achievers?

Consider the refusal to answer as not a dodge, but an answer.

Do you two really think that there is not a "class war" going on in this country? It kills me when radio talk show hosts like "Boortz" try to make any discussion of class warfare seem like a terrible thing. (those socialists commies...etc.) The truth is that the middle class is slowing dissolving into the poor class. Us middle classers are so stressed out working two jobs.....trying to raise kids with both parents working.....not having health care insurance.....the truth is that we are in a class war, and Bush is the lead for the rich.....ALSO, so you really think that those one percenters actually pay 35 percent of anything??? ......with all the loopholes and lawyers they get to enjoy!! ...... wake up and smell the bullshit!

So, you are okay with the democrat solution of keeping the same convoluted tax system and just raising the rates on the rich (which under Clinton was anyone bringing home a paycheck)? If you are pissed off about the tax system, then you should be mad at those who refuse to switch us to a flat or consumption tax.

It is not accurate to say that the top 1% is synonymous with high-achievement. According to the Congressional Budget Office the top 1% (approx 1.4 million families in the US) have an annual income of $740,000+ and rising accounting for approx. 17% of the nations wealth. Although I agree that it is very likely a significant percentage of those in the top tax bracket @ the 35% rate (which is not the top 1% but those with income $315,000+) are high achievers, hard-working, smart, moti...

the capital gains tax cuts of 2003: Are they really 'paying for themselves'?
Tax cuts do not need to pay for themselves. However, they do as proven by current Federal Revenue receipts and economic growth.

N2Soon,
If you know anything about the tax code, you would realize the Flat Tax, or the Consumption Tax would be a disaster for the average citizen. The tax system should be what is called "Progressive"......ie, it should be designed to make sure that there is and always will be a "Middle Class", and that we don't fall into a political system called a Plutocracy (or, rule by the rich). A Plutocracy would be a disaster for Democracy......because, there would be a revolt by the people, and we might just wind up in a Socialist, or Communist system.
Way back in the time of FDR, there were those who thought he was a Socialist. The ones who coined FDR called him (Franklyn Deceitful Roosevelt)...

If you knew anything you would realize that a flat tax isn't flat and is the perfect curve with NO LOOPHOLES. And a consumption tax would only be placed on non-essential goods. So those with the least who are just spending on essential goods would pay no taxes. Thing is you don't do any research and would prefer to keep the disaster we have now for a tax code where the rich like Kennedy are able to hide all their wealth from taxation and the middle class and those rich who work and invest are taxed the hardest.

So, Schreibe, "All men are created equal" except when the tax man comes knocking...and takes your money at the point of a gun? BTW, ours is a constitutional republic...not a democracy (mob rule). There's a huge difference.

One other thing about "rolling back" tax cuts. Those tax cuts were across the board. They include things like the elimination of the marriage penalty which had married couples getting a smaller standard deduction than two single people. Those roll backs took thousands of people off the tax rolls completely (in other words a 100% or more tax cut), and it increased the percent of the tax burden on the rich (in other words, the rich pay a higher percentage of the total income taxes collected than before). On top of all that, it is what is driving our economy to recover from the worst attack on American soil ever.

And they want to roll all that back.
