No matter the office I never vote for an unopposed candidate. Masbury, I believe what you are seeing is due to the fact that the current administration made a lot of bad moves. The situation will swing back and forth again and again as it always does. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the American people are a fickle lot, and very, very few leaders and administrations will appeal to everyone for any considerable period of time. You have to earn my vote even if you are a member of my party. burn, certainly the cycle is real. But I do believe there is an element of right-wing Republicanism that is dying. Remember that the only group McCain solidly won was people over 65; those people are aging, and will be replaced by people of different core values. Second, the GOP will need to find policy that appeals to non-whites if it ever hopes to win back the White House. That means rejection of many elements of the right-wing platform. In this case, there is more than a cycle at work; there is a huge change in who comprises the electorate. Whig party to return soon? |
