"Give away the razor and sell the blades" is fast becoming "give away the printer and sell the ink".

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the downturn. I can't see people shelling out $45 for a color photo inkjet cartridge that easily either unless there's a trend towards DIY gifts and cards as people reign in holiday spending.
