merrie says: Sen. Charles Grassley, R- Iowa, sent the letter Wednesday to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner demanding information about a "dispute over certain Treasury documents" that he said were being "withheld" from Barofsky's office on a "specious claim of attorney-client privilege." A White House spokesman declined to comment, referring questions to the Treasury Department. Treasury spokesman Andrew Williams said late Wednesday that the agency would read Grassley's letter and respond to the senator before any public comment. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-tc-nw-inspectors-0617-0618jun18,0,5718990.story We are seeing a pattern, no longer just a single data point. IGs work independently to protect taxpayers from corruption and abuse from its own government agencies. A coordinated attack on IGs certainly suggests hostility to that mission, which isn’t the Hope and Change Obama promised on the campaign trail. Yep. These are serious issues – and, in my view, are pretty obvious cases of abuses of power not even six months into Obama’s time in office, and I’m happy to see a major newspaper like the ChiTrib covering it. Then again, the Chicago media were about the only media outlets last year that devoted any space whatseover to critical examinations of Obama’s past and policies. Dare we hope that the other mainstream media news outlets will give this scandal the coverage and scrutiny that it deserves? Stay tuned. http://sistertoldjah.com/archives/2009/06/18/another-ig-firing-and-the-leashing-of-another/ EVIDENCE FOUND Kevin Johnson admits he is friends and has in's with Michelle and Barack Obama The inspector general (IG) of the Corporation for National and Community Service was removed by President Barack Obama, a week after the IG questioned the eligibility of the largest and most expensive AmeriCorps program, and while the IG was contesting the "propriety" of a settlement made with a mayor for alleged misuse of AmeriCorps funds for Obama's FRIEND Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMDmce4H0Z4&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fhotair.com%2Farchives%2F2009%2F06%2F18%2Fobama-has-fired-2-igs-in-2-weeks-leashed-another%2F&feature=player_embedded Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. - Ian Fleming, Goldfinger Being an inquisitive sort, Dan Riehl went looking for other instances where the White House may have been interfering with the Inspectors General, and lo! - he found some. Two more, both of which are involved executive branch officials allegedly interfering with investigations and one of which involved a sudden Walpin-like abrupt termination. http://www.redstate.com/moe_lane/2009/06/18/did-the-white-house-interefere-with-more-inspectors-general/ Hope Change.
