and have taken up another one, or none at all, or maybe more than one because polytheism certainly sounds tasty and, you know, what the hell, right?

It's not really all that shocking. People change religions. People swap denominations. People evolve, go to college, learn to think (and seek meaning) for themselves, change their minds or marry someone of a different belief or go through a personal revelation, or actually experience the spiritual/intellectual epiphany that reveals how all religions are one and God is not "out there" and you are not here to be its meek sinful guilty mindless servant.

And maybe you go even further, as you realize that it's actually quite dangerous and small-minded to hew too closely to one narrow way of seeing/feeling/tasting the divine as you perhaps come to the slippery conclusion that it's all about co-creating God in your own way and, therefore, any religion that contains more than one person (that is to say, you) is deviously suspicious and apoc

This much we know: God is failing.
That is an interesting assertion. Perhaps I do not understand it. The very nature of God would suggest that God cannot fail.
I'll have to noodle that one.

I do, however, suspect that this assertion, "This much we know", is just as bizarre.

( I'm just thinking out loud here)

God is failing..and yet, this much we know?

OK , so we know there is a God.
We know he is failing. ( because we cannot possibly assume that )
and, this much we know. (we know nothing, escept apparently there is a God and he is failing)

Yes, that makes sense.

Ah, so you took Morford's hook, ehhh, Willie? That his way of grabbing some people's attention...however did you read the whole column...? It's just about how we need to cast off tired and worn concepts that only lead to suffering and embrace all Life. Personally I think that trying to define God is impossible and futile...perhaps if you read on thru some of the comments,,,the discussion became quite intersesting in places.

Frankly, Papanook, I did not read your clip. After the first line I went directly to the article.

Here is why - When someone makes an assertion about that which they "know", I seek clarification. I did not see it in the article.

I even went here and looked at some of the eveidence the writer claims supports the notion that God has failed. Did you? How is your attention span by the way?

Then I got to the end of the article and saw a proposition which suggests delusion. For all the thoeological libraries of the World are secondary to the view of this simplistic writer.

He is certainly free to have an opini...

You're alway so deep, Willie...I love you for your high fallutin' mind....and it's either Papananook, or Papa not Papanook, please...I call you Willie out of affection, if that's not good just speak up and be sure to use lots of flowery and unnecessary language.

Pardon again. Need I clarify something? I do not understand. Where did I use flowery and unnecessary language?

As for Morford's column, as most of his stuff...he is kin of a smartass too...and more into a Zen trip than longwinded theological discussion...I find him refreshing and amusing, that's all. not a big thing...My Spiritual path is without organized religion and I try to simplify my life not complicate it. More of an assimilator than explainer. I'm a bit scattered right now, so I need to go meditate for a while and get busy packing for my coming migration South. Later
