DiCaprio is a slam dunk to play Leary. Recall the scene in The Aviator when he locks himself in the theater for weeks tripping out within his own mind. Or, go back to Basketball Diaries when he plays an ambitious, but strung out junkie. He definitely can play the part. Leary had a major impact on the music of the 60s generation, so the sound track and score should sic... I'm making the call now for the film to have critical acclaim.

Ssobel... couldn't agree more. Both of those roles are good indications that Dicaprio is the right actor for Leary. In the Aviator, he showed range, and proved he could play a character through various ages. The scene where he secludes himself in his estate while Blanchett? (can't remember which actress) pleads for him to leave really revealed some dark layers he'll need for Leary. Cate Blanchett, incidentally, is one of the actors up to play Bob Dylan.

eric.... if have 2.5 hours free, def check out the Aviator.

I don't think hes been as good in anything as he was in gilbert grape. He tries and his heart is in it but he hasn't really managed it.

P.S. (I'm a recovering DiCapaholic been clean six years now)
