Obstructionist politics. That is all the republicans think they have going for them right now. Instead of coming up with workable alternatives they just go full bore at opposing anything democrats come up with.

I am not thrilled with being forced to pay for any healthcare system that has the potential to dictate lifestyle choices, what we eat, how we recreate, etc. And I can see some validity in concerns over losing authority to control our lives. For instance, if the government runs healthcare and they are in the position to determine that, for instance, you engage in a ‘dangerous activity’ (defined by them) they can and probably will block you from coverage or make you pay for the care.

This thought has some basis in a rising trend that some taxpayers are demanding you pay, or be fined, for your own rescue. A hiker lost in Oregon recently became lost and the search cost the rescuers $25,000. Some taxpayers are demanding she pay for that rescue. It has happened elsewhere.

Why is it any stretch to consider that taxpayers will demand you pay for your own care in you participate in questionable activities? Let your imagination go as to what those ‘questionable activities’ are. This is what could lead to the government dictating how we live our lives.
