For the record, I think this is absolutely effing ridiculous. The last paragraph of the clip pretty much sums it up. How can this kind of garbage be treated as real research?

Bzzzt, wrong, sorry, but thanks for playing. I know at least one smart religious person (and it isn't me).

Gee, enbar, I don't why you'd be so skeptical of solid research like this. This is the same guy, after all, who authored classic papers like "Temperature, skin color, per capita income, and IQ" and "Eugenics: A Reassessment".

How 'bout this for a headline: "UK study reveals intelligent people needed to design research"

People with higher IQs are educated enough to know that what is implied here as "God" is not the only one, and often tend to go with non-Abrahamic beliefs. But they are still very religious people.

nice try, wiccan. Faith has nothing to do with intelligence. This article is a crockpot, and has only showed up on minor newssites and tabloids. Besides the fact that IQ alone does not reveal a person's intelligence. Who wastes their time with this???

Religion is not "faith." Faith is a belief in something that you cannot prove. Religion is a structure based upon faith.

Not taking one side or the other, I've read that people who have gone to college are more likely to stick to their religion than those who haven't. I imagine it's difficult to believe in the goodness of God when you're poor and your life sucks.

You do realize that Darwinism, and all science in general, is a religion according to your definition? Not criticizing, just find this a hilarious affirmation of my own thoughts.

I don't agree, ramsesemerson. Science has multiple ways to prove/disprove theories. Darwinism has tangible evidence that lends credence to its proveablity (sp?). Religion is also about the spiritual aspect of the human psyche, rather than the physical.

I'll have to disagree with that one as well. Difficult? Yes. But I don't believe that formal education makes a person more likely to be religion-centered. Poor people often feel that their religion is the ONLY stable thing in their life, and hold onto it more dearly than those in higher income brackets who often pay lip service to fit in.

A theory is something that can't be completely proven.

These are people who were religion-centered before college.

As for the religious poor, paying lipservice or not is largely a product of upbringing and personality anyway.
