I think it's hard to make a case for Playboy being porn (at least visually) as opposed to erotica. To the best of my knowledge, no Playboy pictorials ever showed actual sexual activity. Many of their earliest centerfolds are tame enough to display on TV. My parents decided early on that seeing Playboy wouldn't hurt me, which meant that my dad didn't have to hide his stash from me anymore.
