I've read several different articles from various sources about this, just for my own personal understanding. Generally, I try and keep an open mind, and honestly, if I were a parent, I couldn't let my child go through hormone replacement therapy and beyond at such a young age.

That's my take, but I'm not a parent, and it's impossible for me to empathize with the children who feel they need to do this, because I don't understand what is going through their young minds and bodies.

There's a Q&A with Norman Spack (the doctor) published on March 30th that explains the ideas from another perspective; a perspective that as crazy or morally wrong as it may seem to you or me, may be completely valid to someone else.

I also think any child walking through the doors to see this doctor is an entirely different case. My thoughts would be to find an alternative solution. If a child is suffering for whatever reason, or suicidal, helping them to get better should be the focus.

News reports are always quick to point out and label people as freaks, so we can all turn away and skoff. If we're dealing with sick children or young minds that have the rest of their lives ahead of them, the solutions to get better should be more vocal than focus on the one that's most scandalous. My guess is that we have a lot of alternative ways to help these children. At least supporting them, improving their quality of life u
