This is good news. For a while there, it looked like we were becoming a nation of witch doctors.

Nearly one in three

believed “humans and other living things” were created in their present form
I'm afraid I still think that's a scary level of ignorance

But this new study, which surveyed 1,000 likely U.S. voters, gives new hope that maybe Americans are getting better at reconciling faith and science.
I never put too much faith in surveys, no matter what side they lean to, but am I the only one who thinks that 1,000 people is just a little low for a survey? Also, they said that they surveyed people who were "likely to vote". I wonder if they made sure they covered a broad range of people, and not just a certain group...

I'm finding this survey to be highly manipulative, but maybe that's
just my opinion. Still, 77% said they favored objectivity, that at

Now that's funny - bravo.

New Poll Shows Most Accept Evolution
How can you possibly use this title when the article clearly states that the survey only interviewed 1,000 people? That's what, .000001% of the population?? I guess it depend on what you mean by "most", but still, I think it's highly misleading.

Whenever someone doesn't like the results of a study, they always use that as an excuse to display their ignorance of statistics.

1,000 people isn't "too low." Let's say I had a bag full of red marbles and blue marbles. If I reach into the bag without looking, how many marbles would I have to pull out before I knew I had a pair? The answer is three. It doesn't make any difference whether there are ten marbles in the bag or a billion.

This is exactly the same sort of sampling that corporations use to track marketing. They don't do that because statistical surveys don't work. They do that because of their accuracy. And they spend millions in market research -- they don't do that because they...

Ah, I see what you're saying. I don't think I've ever been called a flatearther before, but that's fine... Anyway I did specifically mention that I really don't care which way it leans, I just thought it was odd.
