ericw says: Gotta wonder to what degree will the White House comply... Simply put, they won't. We are headed for a constitutional crisis the likes of which this country has never seen. We are really in it now, but when it comes to a head, duck. There will be shit flying everywhere. Someone make a list. How many of this Administration's personnel has this Congress tried to drag before it, to interrogate, to learn it's workings, to scratch and claw for every tidbit it can use to undermine the Executive Branch? I don't believe one person has been exempt from their merciless probes. Please don't read me wrong. If there is criminal activity going on then fine, but I believe these are fishing expeditions and they're designed to tie-up this Administration until the next election and the Democrats take control. How I wish this Congress would spend as much time on the peoples' business as it does shuffling through the current Administration's. While our *house* is burning... No they are doing their job, and their job is oversight. Why is the White House so reluctant and secretive? Why does Gonzales lie and lie again? If they where really interested in the truth, they would release what they have, have the people testify and get it over with instead of hiding behind very dubious claims of executive privilege or national security. It is because a Republican Congress did not do its job, investigate the fiascoes leading to the Iraq war, violations to the Constitution and many other things it is that it has come to this. I say that the Congress has not gone far enough. I can't remember which ones were being summoned, but two of the Administration's people agreed to testify in a closed-door session, but that was not allowed. The instigator wanted it public. For me, this showed that it really had nothing to do with gathering information, but creating a scene for political gain. And to be very candid (in my opinion), it's all about payback for the impeachment of President Clinton. BushCo. has offered testimonly ONLY behind closed doors, with no oath taken by witnesses, and with no video or transcript of their testimony taken. This is beyond preposterous. Just try to get those rules next time you have to go to court for ANY reason, even a lowly shoplifting charge. IMPEACH!!! IMPEACH!!! IMPEACH!!! BTW, this has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with Clinton. We are in Constitutional crisis. How can you not see that? My understanding was that the President had the right to fire any of these attorneys at any time. Weren't 93 fired during the last Administration? no questions asked? Our precious Constitution has be in a crisis for the last 50 yrs. No one's changing anyones opinions here; that's for sure. But I'm learning a lot. See you in the next clip. :~) Why don't they want to be on the record? Why are the so scared of swearing an oath? Could it be that they are not planning to tell the truth. Why the dodge? If I go in front of the Congress I have to swear to tell the truth, why should they be spared. |
