Well ya know, I am always amazed at how so many Americans buy into the concept that America is always clean and innocent. They believe there is no blood on the hands of the good ol' US of A.

We condemn other countries or governments for the same exact actions we perpetrate ourselves. At the beginning of the Iraq war for instance, when the Iraqis captured 5 American service people, including one woman, and they were being questioned on camera, Rumsfeld and the president were appalled at this horrible breach of the Geneva Conventions. And yet when we were caught mistreating prisoners, these same people claimed that the Geneva Conventions were not valid in these cases. That at best the accord was quaint and outdated.

I do not ever support terrorism on any level for any reason. Whether it is being done to us, or perpetrated by us. But to persecute this man, and at the same time try to claim Barack Obama as being somehow connected with the activities of what this guy did over forty years ago, is the height off hypocrisy as well as cheap, vile politics at its worst.

America is a great country, to be sure. But it is not pristine, perfect and unassailable, and we must be adult about who we are, and what as a country we stand for. But simply buying the myth of American perfection, or "my country right or wrong," is just plain wrong.
