Hamas sponsored a mass wedding for four hundred and fifty couples. Most of the grooms were in their mid to late twenties; most of brides were under ten.

Muslim dignitaries including Mahmud Zahar, a leader of Hamas, were on hand to congratulate the couples who took part in the carefully staged celebration.

“We are saying to the world and to America that you cannot deny us joy and happiness,” Zahar told the grooms.

The pre-pubescent girls, dressed in white gowns and adorned with garish make-up, received bridal bouquets.

“We are presenting this wedding as a gift to our people who stood firm in the face of the siege and the war,” local Hamas strongman Ibrahim Salaf said in a speech.

The wedding video tells the rest of the sordid tale.

But let us be disgusted with Christianity and grandma who drives to the Baptist church on Sunday mornings because that only makes sense when Muslims are marrying girls aged 10 and under......

Sick.

Choosing one's own partner based on romantic love (or sometimes necessity) is a modern phenomenon. Even so, in Christianized western 'civilization", females were considered not only sub-human but also property and expected to be obedient and...

I agree. However, many cultures, especially among the lower economic classes, (including the U.S., before child-labor laws and our public education system) consider kids as miniature, ignorant adults. All they need is a little time, food, education and discipline. Much of this comes from being part of a family that lives on the edge of subsistance, where "all hands on deck" is the watchword to survival. And much of this subsistance-level poverty is artificially created by economic systems that encourage predatory practices designed to channel society's wealth and power from the many to the few. And so it goes.
