the second view is made of two arguments:
1) "common-sense dualism". The body is for physical processes, like eating and moving, while the mind carries our consciousness in a separate - and separable - package.
2)an overdeveloped sense of cause and effect which primes us to see purpose and design everywhere, even where there is none.
these two statements combined, lead the way for the invention of god, goddess and the like.
Interesting...

The more perilous ones situation gets, the more one wants to know what is on the other side.

The article just seems to assume that God is an invention of man. But in truth, "logic" does not have the capacity to determine whether this as fact or not.

Man rarely thinks about death and when he is forced to do so, he begins to reexamine his life and its meaning. When things are going well, man has no need for a "savior", in general.

So? Isn't that the reasonable thing to do?

"logic" does not have the capacity to determine whether this as fact or not.
"logic" does not have the capacity to determine whether a unicorn is an invention of man or not.

Man often thinks about death and when he does he is likely to cling to any fairy story that can convince him "it ain't so"

The article seems to want to disprove the existence of God which cannot be done. And insinuating that all religion or faith is an invention of man is not provable either. Because organized religion has a history of being brutal towards humans is the main reason why there are so many who want to discredit it. But to go beyond this and say that God is just an invention of man is to say that religion is foolish BECAUSE there is no God. And that cannot be proven nor is it a good argument.

How is god(s) NOT an invention of man? You ever seen an animal, insect or plant worshiping? Of course it is an invention of man.

This argument always reminds me of a couple "truths".

1. There are no atheists on their death beds

2. No mater who is "right" that leaves an awful lot of people "burning in hell for all eternity".

There may, or may not, be a "god". All I know is that religion is used to explain the inexplicable, bring peace concerning the inevitable and control and dominate the population so that the "chosen" leaders can become richer and even more powerful.
