I've clipped a few articles on elephants. They're quite intelligent; and have actually been evolving emotionally into an extreme dislike of humans, based on the way they are treated. An elephant watching the murder or senseless killing of one in its herd is said to carry that memory and build up an emotional hatred or new instinct to not trust humans.

The program showed elephants' behavior during and after experiencing (watching) a killing. They go through depression, as many animals (birds, etc) and humans do. But they build up an immunity and have a tendency to "turn" on a moments notice.

I've been feeling very sorry for these nice and intelligent creatures since I had first read about the Punic Wars in the history lessons in secondary school. As well as being mistreated, they had always witnessed the worst aspects of "human civilization", namely the wars. The company that was the main focus is based in Texas. They purchase horses at auctions and from other breeders/owners that think they are selling to establishments such as retirement ranches, etc. One couple found out where some of their retired race horses were REALLY going and I would suspect t...
