wildcat says: loved the movie.. Yeah! I stumbled over the book way back in my Army days. I'd gotten one of those "choose 8 books for a penny" contracts and thought it looked neat. it quickly became a favorite and I was quite pleased with how true to the story they kept the movie eliminating the one part that I truly found distracting - the story of that stupid pirate ship. Mmmmm, the movie version of Dr. Manhattan. ;p My Hero. Movie was good but I am glad I bought and read the graphic novel before it. Now I need some free time to do a second reading as in first I skipped the extra background/additional text in it as I wanted to finish it before movie was out. I did have 2 objections to the movie The sex scene between Owl and Spectre was a bit too much. It nearly turns the movie into a porn shoot. We had been planning to bring our 2 daughters to the movie (11 and 9) and luckily my wife and I went late on opening night after their bedtime. I would have been horrified and embarrassed to have them in the theater during that scene. I didn't mind Dr. Manhattan's penis, but I am grateful that they covered it whenever he was gigantor-sized (like in Viet Nam). That would have been distracting. I never read the novel, but I did like how flawed everyone was, and I liked the movie. i don't think it is embarassing for 9years& 11yearsold children to see an erotic scene.i don't agree with the opinion that we should keep our children into blindness&ignorance to such vital issues like sex...i have a little daughter too,&whenever an opportunity comes by chance, i try to give her the message that sex is the most natural thing&that we shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies.children are more intelligent than we think...if we are embarassed about such natural issues, they get obsessed&take it as a kind of anomaly...that is my opinion of course.but i agree about the sex scene for other reaso |
