It's widely whispered in inner circles that Condi is a lesbian. I find her lust for power disgusting and her "moral values" which are not for herself but others even more disgusting. I think she will eventually end up as one of the biggest Republican scandals ever. It's just a matter of time.

Actually I hope there is no scandal to eclipse her coldly inhuman actions as our nations top ambassador with entertainingly lurid petty indiscretions.

The focus of history must remain squarely on the failings of the diabolical political philosophy guiding the Bush administration so that we may begin to learn a lesson from all this mess.

While it is referenced many times on clipmarks, it is always appropriate at any mention of Mz. Rice to add a link to Keith Olberman's brilliant Special Comment commentary calling her out for the lunacy and stupidity of her statements regarding Hitler in comparison to Saddam.

Whether of not Condi is or is not a lesbian is of no importance in my opinion, other than to state that I think she did support the president's call for the Constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. However, for the record, I have heard the same rumours.

Condi does appear to be rather cold blooded and calculating and not someone I put any trust in whatsoever. I believe it is she who urged Israel to bomb the crap out of Lebanon in the summer of 2006 even when it meant destroying the homes and villages of thousands upon thousands of innocent civilians. She wanted Israel to do the dirty work for the U.S. in return for our unqualified support of action against Iran in the future.

I thought she was just like Collen Powell. Just one
of Bush`s Nigger Puppets. But Powell saw the light
and got out. She instead stayed on and became even more powerful with the dis missile of Bumbsfield.
She may be the black knight of the KKK.

As usual Zazel, you make some excellent points. I don't really give a damn what Condi does in her personal life either, except for the fact that she supports an administration that does not believe that equality is for all people. Hiding in the closet will be her ultimate downfall; mark my words.

While I am not attempting to become the "PC Preacher" here, I felt it important to open the view on cptenaud's use of the word Nigger for those of a narrow perspective, particularly given the highly incendiary nature of the word. I cannot speak for him, but I take from his use of the capital N that he is using the word "correctly" and not as a racial epithet, in spite of Powell's and Condi's race. (While I don't press the point, I do not subscribe to the belief that the use of the word only belongs to blacks. Call it the linguistic purist in me.)

The notion of what a nigger is has perhaps been replaced by the term toady, but that is a bit less descriptive in general usage.

What is the cor...

Condi has been dating Oprah

(seriously, this i really old news and stories implying her orientation have been leaking out for years in very subtle ways.

I would like to think that there is more to sexual orientation than a single kind of biological gratification. Perhaps it may extend to another kind of biological gratification: empathy?

If so, could we say that a person motivated solely out of greed and hunger for personal success truly has an orientation?

It may be cruel to say it, but from what I've seen of her, it seems she treats the people around her as objects, mere means to achieving her own goals.

There is no "correct" way to use that word; it remains a derogatory word usually used in reference to Black people (as it was used here). Regardless of your beliefs, one never sees it used in reference to other races (that wouldn't make it necessarily more acceptable...

I normally don't like splitting hairs over vocabulary, and lord knows I'm not in a position to correct anyone's spelling, but the use of the word as Bartendingbear suggests (an exceptionally parsimonious, stingy and otherwise narrowly inflexible person) is actually spelled "niggard" which comes from the root in Middle English word nyggard, which has its root in the ancient Scandinavian word nyg, meaning stingy, with the 'ard' suffix added to make the adjective into a personal noun.

The deraugatory term, on the other hand, is spelled 'nigger' with an e, and probably comes from the Spanish word 'negritto' which was a slang for blacks, or simply the word negro, which means black in Spanish. Si...

The same could be said of Collin Powell. I believe that Bush picked Collin Powell for his secretary of state to politically neutralize him, which he did so permenantly by deliberately sending him to the United Nations with faulty evidence, on which he was forced to make promises that Bush immediately broke.

It's one of the Bush team's best hit-jobs, but not the only one. You'll notice over the last six and a half years Bush has systematically targeted and destroyed popular conservatives in the government who are not part of his extremely narrow ideological clique. I believe that this has done lasting damage to the integrity and diversity of the Republican Party.

On a lighter note, I recall one professor was fired from some university for using the adjective "niggardly" correctly to refer to the school's tight-fisted financial policies. He was fired on the grounds that the word was racially offensive.

One of his colleagues, amused that a teacher was fired because of administrative confusion over two similar sounding words, remarked "Well, thank goodness I didn't start talking about the thespians!"

Funny how the words come full circle that way. I have heard no rumors as to whether or not Condi is a thespian.

With all due respect to O’s etymological excellence and expertise, he missed the point, and to the contrary, Geekette , that is exactly my point. Call it a lament of the loss of a good word for the lack of another to replace it in the meaning as used.

The word (in my view) was used correctly, and yes... it was meant derogatorily, and while yes it is usually used in reference to black people in this case it really wasn’t about Condi and Powell being black (that is unfortunate irony). Rather, it was a reference to them as individuals being “owned” by BushCo and dancing to Bush’s tune at his will, which occurs regardless of race. (To the critical eye, an argument might be made that Bush himsel...

My lament is the loss of the particular understanding and the need of a word which accurately and succinctly describes th outcome I see. The derogetory side characteristics commonly attached within the use of the word (sloth, unable to comprehend logical and higher thought, and so forth) are those which people much more commonly reference and are understandably objectionable but are not meant to be incited in the use of the term as I suggest.

While no one willingly wants to be chattel (it is anathema to the American experience and common good sense understanding of the nobility of man) often circumstance and condition make people figuratively such. The word Nigger, in my view, points out that condition.

Must a single adult woman always be gay? She could be a spinster/asexual/longterm undercover mistress/whatever else y'know.

That said, if you liked the video that NonStatQuo clipped, you should check out the rap song that Condi "herself" made.
