Great tips! I can definitely use this advice. I've been in a lot of meetings lately and i've had to learn very quickly to make my point in a clear and concise manner. Nothing worse than seeing people begin to stair into space when you're talking. Excellent advice, which I' ll remember when I write my next paper, however I doubt the average person reviews their conversation as they speak, so what I believe is needed is a simpler, more condensed version for all the yackers out there. My advice think about what you are going to say and then say it; preferably before you start talking at all Great find. I can use this advice as well. I'm not so bad in public forums/comments, but private correspondence and conversation is where I show my true colors. And useful for the 2000 character comment limit. interesting & efficient advices.. will add one more short one: "what we cannot speak about we must pass over in silence" (Ludwig Wittgenstein) and another short one -) "... and whatever a man knows, whatever is not mere rumbling & roaring that he has heard, can be said in three words." (Kurnberger) Don't mean to sound like a smart-ass here, but couldn't the advice in this clip have been made less wordy by simply saying, "use fewer words, express yourself simply, and don't say anything you don't have to"? Now that wouldn't be very helpful would it, i'm sure people prefer specific guidelines instead of vague ones like what you just mentioned. Nice Resource! Many people are ingrained trying to write school reports. Word count is graded. |
