JICWyllie says: Quite so. Selfless ecocentricity is normal, egocentricity is distorted. Recommend David Abrams, The Spell of the Sensuous. Spell of the Sensuous is awesome. Two clips back I wanted to quote him, but my book's on loan. On a non David Abrams thing, and to the article, it makes me think of Deleuze and Guattari and their way of writing and philosophizing. I recommend their A Thousand Plateaus, though it may seem a bit too abstract for analytical minds. They're very much about connections, processes, possibilities (instead of fate and teleology). Yeah... I swear I was going somewhere with that. There's also a line, I forget from whom, wish I would've written it down and the name of the one who phrased it. But to misquote, it's something like: it's not the bread that sustains us, but the life and the spirit within the bread. |
