Spekulation war auch mitverantwortlich für die globale Nahrungsmittel- und Rohstoffkrise 2008 sowie die gegenwärtige Weltwirtschaftskrise. Weitere Ursachen für die genannten Krisen sind u.a. die zunehmende Komplexität der Finanzprodukte und die Geschwindigkeit, mit der Finanztransaktionen heutzutage abgewickelt werden.</DIV><BR /><DIV>Die Folgen der Krisen sind weltweit sehr ungleich verteilt. Zwar leiden auch reiche Staaten darunter. Doch sie können Milliarden US$ aufwenden, um die Krisenfolgen aufzufangen. Die meisten Entwicklungsländer hingegen leiden unter Einbrüchen bei ausländischen Direktinvestitionen, im Export, Rohstoffverkauf und Tourismus, bei Rücküberweisungen von Migranten und der Entwicklungshilfe. All dies gefährdet den Zeitplan zur Erreichung der Millenniums-Entwicklungsziele. </DIV><BR /><DIV>Für diese beiden Problemfelder gibt es aber ein geeignetes Mittel: Eine Finanztransaktionssteuer</DIV></blockquote><div style="height: 2px;
