It was the atmosphere (that burned.) Everything else was secondary fire. It is well established that Oxygen content at the time of dinosaurs was on the order of 35 to 40 percent partial pressure, as opposed to 20 to 22 percent today.
To clarify this somewhat, scientists working on the first A-Bomb in the 1940's calculated that the energy released by the blast had a 50% chance of igniting our atmosphere and causing a worldwide conflagration. The Dinosaur-Killer (asteroid) released THOUSANDS of times more energy than an a-bomb.
Heck, so did the Mount Saint Helen's volcanic eruption. Except we no longer have the huge Oxygen presence which burned-off 65 million years ago and has never been ...
