dmegivern says: Barbara Ehrenreich walks readers through social class in the US as she has studied it. And don't think that a college degree will get you any where. You may find you have to compete with Eastern India or Chinese students. And the Government pays to subsidize this outsourcing program. Have you ever seen that documentary, "Nickel and Dimed"? Barbara Ehrenreich worked in various service industry jobs, waitress, maid, etc. Her struggle to survive on her wages was a revealing look at our growing class of working poor. Check out Bill Moyers' Journal for his interview with her. I have some clips about this. You can ask anyone I know about the struggle of the working class. |
