cptenaud says: I join you in your anger, disgust and dismay. I'ts the best news corporate can buy! (0.00 / 0) Between this story and the Matthew McConaughey placenta spectacular, I thank God I've lived long enough to remember what journalism used to be. Including the status of our servicemen and women, there are so many issues to be tackled and this...is the best that media can come up with? I'm too flustered to read more than the headlines of this swill. Specifically gave up on network television news 2 years ago...is print next? It's much the same here in the UK. We have a couple of decent newspapers (The Guardian in particular) and the BBC is mostly OK, but the rest is obsessed with "celebrity", scandal, scare stories, woo and trivia. Australian Press is owned by piddle peddling fascists in Australia. Murdoch is the tone setter for the others. This is a perfect example of why I'm a lil scared to be back on clipmarks. *sigh The other day I saw a story in a 1/2 hour report, about a man in the US caught in a tree. I couldn't help thinking how stupid they must think we are when that is the best they can come up with considering the number of critical issues that should be aired. They wonder why they are losing viewers and readers. You see what news really is on the net. Less and less people refuse to be 'told' what is going on, but are finding out for themselves. Teaching themselves to learn. Form a number of viewpoints and sources, rather than a lame expansion on a one paragraph story that is mass emailed to media outlets. A lot of times (more than I can count) I've read things on clipmarks that I later saw on the news. So to find out what's going on in the world do what I do, "go to clipmarks first". And I do watch the news everyday. |
