There may also be some that are lethal in some species, but not others. We're looking for those sequences."Hmm...extremely interesting! The only trouble is, my little paranoid bell is ringing again. Now why would it be the DoD funding something like this? Could any of those "wide-ranging" uses perhaps include some sort of future biological weapon? Hmm....interesting indeed! Very cool! Well it made me raise an eyebrow when I saw the DoD being mentioned... interesting article If they WERE to make biological weapons out of this, they could even target specific races, leaving everyone else and animals alive. Anyone having some shared genetic marker, be it ethnic, disease related etc could be targeted. I definitely don't trust the DoD to have any altruistic motives or humane intentions for funding this sort of research, that's for sure. Damn...something else for me to worry about now too. I need some more coffee. . Ethnic bio-warfare has been a hot topic for decades. So it's not entirely new. However, if this technology was to be used as a means of a refinement, of ethnicity then there are some worrying consequences... I dunno...it seems the future is moving in on us faster than we can keep up, with more and more dastardly ways being thought up and implemented for man to destroy each other. It saddens me immensely, that even though we're supposed to be such smart and intelligent creatures, we're just headed for a big fall and our own total destruction one day seems almost inevitable. . |
