dorine says: Rewriting history so as not to offend. Where will it end? well said dorine...sharp comment! history is part of what the world is now & who we are! It should never ever be rewritten... Perhaps they should simply drop history lessons all together. More than one student wouldn't mind i'm sure. We all make mistakes. If only humanity could learn from them. Erm, I'm Muslim and I don't deny the Holocaust. I mean, I've never even heard of such a thing, that the holocaust defies Islamic teachings. Some extremists must be complaining I guess. It's so ridiculous rewritting history. If students don't like, then go to another school. I don't like chemistry and no one changes the pensum because of it (stupid example, I know, but fits)... I now officially declare that the world has gone insane. This reminds me of the whole rewriting of history text books in India a few years back when State governments run by the BJP sought to rewrite historical accounts and effect changes in school syllabi so as to reflect the Hindutva view. Those teachers should plan a field trip to Auschwitz for the Muslims to see it first hand. Would be a good "bring along the parents!" weekend. Those are not giant versions of easy bake ovens there. |
