disenchantedcitizen says: The current salary for rank-and-file members of Congress is $174,000 per year. On average, over the last 9 years, they have met about 140 days a year. So far this congress has worked 23 days, out of a possible 46 days, or 50% of the time. Let's compare that to my work schedule. I get New Years Day off, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, a half day on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a half day on New Years Eve. In an effort to simply survive I regularly accept just about any hours offered to me by any team member needing a shift covered. About the only thing I won't do is a close/open back to back. Since I work in a mall, holidays are essentially non-existent and seldom relaxing. No vacation time, no sick time, and no health coverage. Oh, wait a minute. I for... |
