most widely known symbols in the world, was first designed and drawn on 
home-made banners and badges in London, England on February 21, 1958, when CND 
(Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament ) was launched at a public meeting but has 
since been apropriated by scores of different protest movements, from hippies in 
1960s America and to the rest of the world, it is known more broadly as the
