an official with Brazil's Indian
protection agency who was on the helicopter that overflew the
tribe, said they should be left alone as much as possible.
I find it funny how people ( generally people on the Left ) think we should leave these people alone and not help them with better medicine, food, clothing, healthcare, education, and all the other wonderful comforts of the modern age, while insisting they impose their will on people who would like to be left alone in their very own countries.

As mentioned in the clipped article there was one tribe that recently "made contact" with the outside world who lost half their population to the common cold. Maybe, perchance, this guy might just know a thing or two about indigenous peoples and how best to make contact with them. Just a guess on my part though.

That's a good point, but not entirely relevant to mine. Mine was more about the oft-preached idea about judging the lifestyle conditions of other cultures. You know... that whole multicultural, there is no superior culture thingy. I've heard it preached to the point that suggests that their culture is superior to ours. Yet, if I were to suggest our culture superior, then I am labeled a xenophobe or some such term of endearment.

And, for the record, he was not suggesting how best to make contact in your clip. He said they should be left alone as much as possible. I read that as saying...left alone forever.
