It would be alarming rather than surprising if anybody thought about the Iraq situation without considering the political and factional histories of the middle eastern region.

Of course! Iraq is a phony country, with boundaries set up by the British under the "divide and conquer" principle to keep every group weak. And, Realnapster, don't get the idea that western meddling in the region began with the invasion - you'd be almost a hundred years off!
