I wish I had stayed away from those nasty cards. I'm so far in debt now. My excuse was I didn't have enough to live on. My disability cheque barely covers my rent an other necessary household bill and I had to eat. Then my daughter and her two small children needed food too. Enter credit cards.

Tanya, I hear you very well. People are usually trapped into the credit cards' bottomless pit in this way. Many people around me (including myself, some 6 years ago) experienced a similar situation when an economical crisis hit my country. You need to do the shopping you actually cannot afford, so -reluctantly- you are obliged to use these cards - and when you can't pay your debt on time, huge interest rates begin to torture you.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one, invictus... (although I do agree with the peace sentiment wholeheartedly). If I have cash - it gets spent. If I have cards - they get used when needed. In my case cards are my safer way than cash.

I think for those who have problems with self-control - either would be a poor choice... for them, the best thing to do is avoid carrying either cash or cards, that way they won't be able to blow the money. Of course they may have a problem getting home from a remote location, but that's another topic
