egoldstein says: I don't mean to be insensitive - and i'm not saying it shouldn't be amongst the top stories, but CNN currently has the bold yellow "Breaking News" bar on their home page in reference to Ed McMahon dying. Compared to other things going on right now in Iran, North Korea and about 136 other places, i just don't see how this is worthy of the "Breaking News" alert status on the CNN home page. Good point. Perhaps it's "breaking" as in newly released news as opposed to earthshaking. I get CNN International breaking news updates and I got this one too and I don't even know the guy! I doubt anyone here in Europe does. All I can think of is it's either a real slow day for news or whoever is in charge of things like that was an McMahon fan. You will probably see the same thing when Farrah Fawcett passes away. Think about it, folks, Paris Hilton going to jail overruled some pretty big news stories of the day. Sad isn't it really. If something is "breaking news", it is "breaking news". You're correct. And the MSM (main stream media) is giving incredibly shallow and superficial news reportage on the protests in Iran. Journalists have for the most part become lazy, and simply cut and past articles with a few changes from one site to another. Anyone that wants to understand what's happening in Iran needs to to dig much deeper. http://tiny.cc/failedrevolution MIke Ha! I was about to say the lead article on that site was lifted from Stratfor, then they creditied it at the end. That is good analysis. That was a really good read, redbourn, thanks for the link. Today's "breaking news": -- S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford -- after days when his whereabouts were unknown -- says he has been unfaithful to his wife. CNN is the epitome of mock journalism. Ridiculous. Well no not since Michael Jackson died. |
