alanocu says: The seven "stone idols" in the upper part of the river Pechora stand alone on a wide plateau. An interesting formation considering the surrounding landscape: The writer for englishrussia.com believes they were man-made. http://englishrussia.com/?p=1911 I think they appear to be formed by nature, but the location is odd. amgumen if you see this, any ideas? Those are amazing! bit like 'stonehenge' only much bigger! They remind me of erratics that one sometimes sees near glaciers where I live, in Alaska. But they appear to be made up of several stones so they have to be man made. too cool. Thanks for the clip. Nice clip, Alanocu. These are not likely to be man-made. They are more probably outliers or relics, as it often occur in nature, formed as a result of deep erosion on intense fissured crystalline rocks. WOW!! There must be folklore associated with these formations. Very fascinating, and new (to me)! Thanks alanocu To paraphrase the englishrussia site: there are many many cool things to see and learn about in that particular 6th of this amazing planet This is new to me too....boy! the things you learn here at the clip! |
