Popped because NOBODY wanted to say the emperor had on no clothes then and even today people still don't have the nerve to say the war was wrong without being accused of being unpatriotic.

Thank you for finding this clip

The war was wrong initially, but it doesn't mean that it's wrong to continue it. It's a shame he's opposing its continuation.

We lose the war if we move our troops out. If we add more troops, we have a chance of success. Not too hard.

So the ends justify the means?

What chance of success is there if the Iraqis are already shooting at each other?

Is the U.S. going to fight everybody, the Shia, the Sunni and the Kurds?

And where are those troops coming from anyway?

Oh and one more thing what would victory look like?

If the current government of Iraq is increasing its ties with Iran?

Is the U.S. going to launch another coup to put another government in place?

Sound more like one step forward...5 steps back.

The general public of Iraq are not the ones attacking us, nor the Sunni's, Kurds nor Shiites, just smaller groups of radicals. We're trying to flush out those groups, but the problem is that we do not have enough troops there to do so.

How can the government of Iraq advance if those radicals continue to grow, cycling the public into a civil war (Very similar to Ruwanda), when they're persuading our very own American public that they're already in one?

If we leave, they get the chance to actually make it a civil war, and then not only does Iraq grow as a terrorist breeding ground, but the Middle East will too.

And before you say that we could redirect troops back to the U.S. for "greater ...

So RealityMatter, how long should we stay there? How many more wounded and dead US soldiers are you willing to lose.
How many billions or trillions of dollars that could go to health care and education do you want to pour down that drainhole? You want to fight both Iraq and Iran maybe?

Are you even aware that the ratio for successful peace keeping operations require a security personnel for every 50 citizens of the country your trying to provide security for. That's 540,000 long-term on the ground in Iraq (not even counting the rotation forces needed to replace them). If we start a war with Iran we need over a million on the ground in Iran alone.

I think you need to make a visit to the recruiter when you graduate in May.

True, up to the point that 27 million people are waiging war against U.S. forces, but is also true that many of these groups are not at the fringe, they are militias that are part of the goverement and claim wide support among the distinct ethnic/religious groups in the country (case in point the Madhi Army and the Badr Corps).

I like both of your arguments.

In fact, I have been speaking to some friends in the past weeks, and we've been looking for good reasons for as to why we should pull out. You're points are the first ones I agree with.

I'm not sure I agree with the entire notion of pulling out yet, but I have been swayed.
