Here's a short essay concerning Henry Gates. Maybe it will allow other white people to glimpse into the world of people of color.

Exactly right. It is harder to be non-white than to be white in America. We are not equal under the law.

Would the problem be that blacks are involved in most of the crimes and he is more a victim of bad black behavior?

Who would you expect the police to interrogate if they are hunting for a black man who committed a crime?

Is it "white privilege" that has caused this phenomenon or is it black misbehavior?

In jay's case it is the willfully blind leading themselves in circles. Always blame the victim.

yeah, it was those thieving blacks who cut my life savings in half last year and devastated people's lives all over the entire world. No matter, I know that the folks who committed that criminal activity for their own profit will of course be prosecuted and punished, even if they are white.

Ya know, a lot of people are personally tired of this racism crap. It just keeps getting handed down from one generation to the next. It really needs to stop.
I used to tell myself that soon, the racists would die out from natural attrition, but it doesn't seem to be working that way.
Like the "Eveready bunny" it goes on and on and on......
Makes one believe in Evil (which, of course, lives between the eyes of each one of us).

When I was out marching in the 60s I figured this had to be the end of discrimination. I've long ago chalked that up to youthful exuberance and naivety. And you're spot on. It is a generational problem and it has gotten better. It just hasn't disappeared. Yet not too long ago this would not have been a news story at all because it would have been normal and accepted. I guess that's progress.
