egoldstein says: It's exciting to see awareness of Clipmarks spreading. It's exciting for us too, eric. Congratulations. This goes on and on and on...wow... this is just a beginning... This is good, excellent, but after CM being treated as "annotation tool" now it seems poised to take over as a blogging tool. When are they going to realize it is much more than that? The community aspect of Clipmarks is almost obscure, in fact, it is only apparent to those who take some effort in participating which is a minority based on the traffic this site generates. @arifasli: that's true ... it's kind of an interesting problem. In a way I'm guessing these reviewers don't spend much time on the site before reviewing it, and I was a member for a while before I started paying attention to the community aspect, myself. I also wonder if people just automatically think of Digg when they think of social news, and Digg appeals to a very specific kind of audience, in my view (I tend to think that Clipmarks attracts a broader demographic, and a more intelligent one, than Digg). I would agree. I have also sensed that in general, many of the intelligent (or rather mature) crowd do not necessarily participate in conversations on continuous basis, hence they loose out on the community aspect of the technology (this is in terms of numbers, of course we have fair share of contributors here at Clipmarks but they aren't that many compared to the total visitors). One thing which made me so enthusiastic about Clipmarks is its ability to keep the conversation in context for easy follow up. One could always come back to any conversation and the thread will be visible to those who have participated. This is something no forum, listserv or blog could provide right now. ditto pop |
