Can we have a show of hands of Conservatives actually stupid enough to get into a subprime mortgage?
You have to be pretty materialistic and narcissistic to buy more than you can afford.
People in these mortgages should suffer the consequences. That is the risk they took. No one bails me out when a risk or investment I am involved in tanks.

Why  should someone who has kept the terms of a contract be penalized for the  benefit of the party that didn't? A lot of people took a calculated gamble on  interest rates and home prices. Had they bet right, they'd be reaping the  rewards.
