I disagree.. though respect from teachers to students is nice.. it is not necessary.. you see.. there lie the problem.. Kids believe that they deserve respect, without actually doing anything to earn it. Back in the day if you acted out, you got the strap at school & then went home and got a foot in your ass from your parents.. and you know what? there was a hell of a lot less violence in school ,especially against teachers. (Heck, back in my day, you didn't disrespect teachers.. you got suspended, detention, etc).

Schools are going to hell. Teachers can't make a single move towards tying to discipline or parents will have a conniption. Meanwhile these same parents will bitch and whine if their kids fail.
