infidel70 says: Not in favor of this at all. No, not the way they/we abuse people in these shows. Octomom is pushing the envelope, now they're pandering to another class of voyeurs. Ew. Yeah, makes me feel a mite queasy as well. I'm reminded of one of my great-grandmother's favorite sayings: "Some things are nobody's business." Surely there must be a middle way between hiding dying people away so others don't have to acknowledge illness and death, and exploiting them on reality TV. ...I think I just figured out why someone would agree to go on this show. How much are they paying the terminally ill people? Considering the high cost of medical care, I can understand somebody looking at it and deciding "I will sacrifice my privacy and dignity during my last days so that after I'm gone my loved ones won't have such a huge financial burden." Which makes it feel even dirtier, morally. |
