The editor of strengthcoach.com says target-heart-rate zone training isn't all it's cracked up to be because the formula used to calculate the zone won't be accurate for people with unusually fast or slow heart rates. This type of training could actually end up pushing people with unusually low maximum heart rates too hard, he says.
It makes sense to me that the formula won't work for everyone, but I'm surprised at how few people it reportedly does apply to. Anyone have a good or bad experience with this type of training?
