The system blocks content by preventing <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address" title="IP address">IP addresses</a> from being routed through and consists of standard firewall and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server" title="Proxy server">proxy servers</a> at the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet" title="Internet">Internet</a> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway" title="Gateway">gateways</a>. The system also selectively engages in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_poisoning" title="DNS poisoning">DNS poisoning</a> when particular sites are requested.
