They also found, however, that these parents are less likely to yell at their kids or mete out arbitrary discipline. These parents tend to rely on parenting manuals consistent with their religious beliefs and are encouraged by religious leaders and church support groups to set clear expectations for their children's behavior and use corporal punishment only in well-defined circumstances of outright rebellion.
