America seems ill prepared for the digital TV and the necessity for change. Can 25 million Americans live without TV??? Perhaps even more. It may be a good thing to be without TV but cold turkey will be hard for many. a great opportunity to boycott and not upgrade TV, and go internet only Agree blueridge...I don't know how cheap fast broadband with enough download allowance to watch tv is in the USA, but here in Australia it's hugely expensive. Many OAPs and the poor will be stuck...unable to afford a new tele and aerial installation or a broadband package good enough to watch tele via the 'net. I recently replaced a 20 year old tele with a digital one and, because I couldn't get a decent signal, ended up buying an aerial to capture the digital signal. The cost: $400AUD...total cost for new tele and aerial..almost $900AUD! |
