interesting... but there are already a lot of extensions for firefox that would do it quick...

1. Play the youtube video of your choice.

2. Go into Tools, Internet Options

3. Click the SETTINGS button under Browser History

4. Click VIEW FILES button

5. You are now in the Temporary Internet Files Folder on your computer.

6. The video you viewed will be a file at the top, its a file with Get_video? in the file name.

7. Copy the file to your desktop.

8. Right click the file and say rename

9. Rename the file whatever.flv     the flv is the flash movie viewer extention. The movie is now a self-contained video as long as you have the flash movie player plug-in on your computer.

This sounds tedious, but its really second nature once you do it a few times.  However, it will not work on all videos, some don't download directly to your temp folder, they stream.
