This month I address what may be the most common misunderstanding about atheism: A surprising number of religious believers seem to think that, since their own moral beliefs originate in their religious beliefs, someone lacking in religious beliefs must be amoral. And in truth, atheism as such does have very little to do with morality – but not for the reasons such believers seem to think.
